pshannonMemberIf your doing your HIIT on a elliptical and your saying your going for 60 seconds full out/maximum inesnity, your still being held back from a machine. Therefore are a pussy.
Sorry but I don't get this - it just sounds like your ego talking? Resistance is resistance, whether it is a hill, a sled, a swimming pool or a machine. Someone using a bike or a rowing machine isn't necessarily working with any less intensity than someone swinging a kettle-bell; I think it is largely relative to the individual and what they are willing to put into the session. HIIT is about personal performance, I just don't see how that comment is constructive pshannon?
Constructive? I said nothing about a bike or a rower. I singled out a elliptical...

RussiBGuestMaybe I am being overly sensitive then. I would rather see someone giving 100% on an elliptical than 70-80% any other way though.

Richard SchmittModeratorWomen can do HIIT on CNS yes, they can do it everyday. Why? Because the video mentions how women hold on to their glycogen a lot more than men do. Is it neccessary? No not really. If you keep your diet in check during the ULC week, and eat carbs one time a Nite, not multiple times during the week then you'll be fine. HIIT is there for damage control, like what Ms Alex Navarro did when she went on a pastry binge mixed with alcohol, and for meeting weight standards for Mrs Julia Lawedeski for her powerlifting meets. It's a tool not an escape goat for binging out whenever you so please. Men should NOT do HIIT everyday, unless your coached and have a damn good laid out program like what Pshannon is doing with Meadows AND on CBL. If you're on CNS, HIIT everyday for men NO, while on CBL HIIT for men should be done prior to lifting. Increases growth hormones and testerostrone for your lifting session. Makes sense y'all? Pshannon, if my gym had a prowler I would use that every time I did HIIT. All we got for cardio is machines, bikes, rowers, and ropes/KB. I will admit I did try the machine out one time for HIIT, while I did increase the resistance, I feel better doing Hill Sprints in a school's parking lot.

Prowler makes me want to puke...every time. Match that with Farmers Walks....Its a fun day. I wish we had ropes.

Trevor G FullbrightModeratorI didn't really read every post, but I think some people are missing an important part.Kiefer says do it until you go in a feel destroyed after your first couple of rounds. So if you do it 2 days in a row, and on your 3rd day you feel like dying you are done with HIIT for the week because you have depleted yourself.

Maybe the language could have been better, but hes right. You're really able to go full out on a track/ using non machine methods. It really is much better. An elliptical will be less intense.

preppypyroGuestIm a little confused, bear with me. Is it ok for men to do the HIIT on CNS, or am I just tired and blurring a bunch of these posts together?

But if on the third day you feel like you are dying, then not only could you not do HIIT that day, but you also could not lift, correct? So at what point does the HIIT interfere with your lifting?

You could still lift, you would likely have to wait to recovery some. For women particularly they will rely more on fatty acids during lifting.Men will use fatty acids too, we just tend to hit a wall quicker while depleted.

+1 An eliptical will not allow you to do HIIT properly. It requires too much coordination to control the machine and stay balanced. An exercise bike an excellent option though.

FairyGuestAfter having watched Kiefer's YouTube vids, I'm going to do:2 min walk, 1 min run hard x6 every other morning after a cup of black coffee + 200mg caffeine, regardless of whether I'm gyming/climbing that day.
