cassidyKeymasterI have been backloading with great success. But I have a summer job that has me working from 4pm to 8 pm. I was wondering how should I backload the carbs to gain weight? I am thinking this will be the best plan for me would be to finish lifting at 3. Take the carb and protein shake then wait until 9 pm to eat the carbs. is that my best bet?

nickl413MemberSo no food for about 6 hours between the shake and after work? Seems like that wouldnt be ideal. Sneak some food into work or I think a late training session might suit you better. Eat something greasy and carby, train later, slam 100g carb shake.

zewskiMemberYea Kiefer even mentions in the book that mid-day is the worst time to train while late night training deviates the least. A lot of people also make early morning training work. Is that an option for you?

cassidyGuestyeah I can do early morning training, my schedule is free until work which is from 4-8. And for work i am walk door to door trying to get people to set up appointments for a remodeling company. I will be doing this for the summer until school starts. But how would I eat the carbs while lifting at 7 am?

Brandon D ChristParticipantFor early morning training you do it completely fated, not even a little coconut oil or cream. All you have is water and caffeine. Take the caffeine, train, and then have a post-workout shake with carbs. The reason for doing the training fasted is that it doubles the anabolic response. You will go ULC until dinner time, 6-7 pm is ideal for most people.Since you are trying to gain weight, it is important that you eat pretty often. I would bring something like cheese or nuts to work to eat in the middle of your shift then you can just come home and backload.

cassidyGuestThank you guys I have one last question. Would napping at like 1-2 pm mess anything up? Also here is my plan from reading up on carb backloading can you guys critique it. 10 am lift. (is this to early or too late?) take post work out shake an hour after I am done lifting.Low carb throughout the day then start taking in carbs at 9 pm or whenever I get off work.

Napping for an hour won't cause any harm. I think the 10 am lifting is fine, just do it fasted (I am assuming you wake up at like 9 am?). Not that it's a problem, but it's usually better to consume your PWO shake right after you are done lifting.

cassidyGuestSince I wont have as much time to eat carbs as I would with working out at night should I make another carb shake with milk to drink with the carbs I eat?
