Cory McCarthyMemberYesterday, I was told by someone who doesn't see me everyday that my chest has gotten noticeably bigger and thicker. She went so far as to say my chest is now overpowering my delt width and upper arms. :-I am on Carb Nite, and I knew going into this I'd only be maintaining + losing fat, NOT growing muscle. I am not a beginner, and have been lifting for years, with some good size to show for it.Is it possible for an advanced lifter to GAIN any noticeable mass on a ULC diet like CNS? Any other advanced lifters have experience with this?I trust this girl's opinion, which is usually REALLY harsh -- brutally so. She'd be the first to tell me I look like utter $h1t, if it is true. She is an avid BB'ing fan. That said, my chest has always been a STRONG bodypart for me... and I have an intense connection with it (much like my back).Perhaps my chest doesn't give a f--k if I am low-carb / dieting... it grows anyway? ???Cory

Is it possible you lost fat under and on the sides of the delts to make it appear like they grew? Maybe you held fat there?

Tanner FoxParticipantWas this simply her opinion? Have you taken chest measurements? When you look at the mirror what do you see? Yes it is possible. With that being said it is hard to see how this happened without seeing how you are training or how you are executing certain movements. If your in that sweet spot of muscle growth with CNS and you are using a higher amount of chest volume without the accommodating shoulder/upper arm work, an imbalance could occur. The fact that you are at an advanced level and gained chest width on CNS is a feat in and of itself, which I would be proud of. But that's just me...

I considered it was just definition popping through where fat had been burned, but my measurement is actually up, and the definition is coming in, too. Implies growth and fat loss.I am not complaining, just shocked this could happen on CNS (wasn't expecting it).Cory

HAHA. Thanks.I am not complaining, just shocked, to be honest. I can fix imbalances, not worried about that.My current chest routine is VERY basic:Incline Bench Press (Barbell): 3 x 8 *I also perform 1 warm-up set of 15 reps, not to failure.Decline Bench Press (Barbell): 3 x 8Flat-Bench Flyes: 3 x 8...that is all she wrote. My technique is textbook... controlled, contraction, etc. I focus on and visualize (mentally) the muscle I am working, down to the section (i.e., upper, lower or middle pec). When I squeeze during flyes, I visualize inner and outer.Nothing special about the routine. My split looks like this (so, maybe recovery is helping):Monday: Delts, Traps, Triceps, AbsTuesday: Back, Rear Delts, ForearmsWednesday: OffThursday: Chest, Biceps, AbsFriday: OffSaturday (Carb Nite): Legs, CalvesSunday: Off (w/ 30 minutes of fasted HIIT morning cardio)Her opinion sparked me to look closer and measure. CNS is bringing in my definition (esp. in upper chest) as the weeks go by, but I am actually (slightly) bigger. Not enough for me to notice, but for someone who hasn't seen me (shirtless) in a bit... yeah.Cory

Tanner FoxParticipantFirst off, you just randomly roll up to your friends and tear off your shirt ? 🙂 (kidding)Losing fat is a lot like watching grass grow. You see yourself everyday so the changes aren't apparent but someone who hasn't seen you in awhile will see the changes in a different light. That chest routing looks solid and I wish more people would just focus on getting c*ck strong on the basic lifts instead of over-complicating EVERYTHING and spinning their wheels. Beginners don't need to focus on "extrapolation of the intraquadular nervous system development on the hamstring" if they can even squat 315 for reps :). I could go off on a tangent here but I will leave you with two comments:1) Cell-Tech is like muscle mass in a canAND2) Keep doing what you are doing

Thanks, Tanner.Honestly, I was just getting changed. Hence the removal of my shirt. I'm kind of an exhibitionist, I guess. No dignity. ::)Yeah, I like to stick to the compound basics. Occasionally finishing off a routine with some isolation. That said, I prefer DB or BB moves to machines and cables. If it worked for Arnold, it will work for me.I also believe in full range of motion, not this half-rep / assisted-rep $h1t I see guys doing in the gym so they can bench more (and impress their buddies / girls). Yes... bring that BB DOWN to your chest, and push back up, drive through your feet. Lower the poundage used so you can do the reps yourself, too. Seriously! And, yes, "Cell-Tech" is some powerful $h1t... just ask Ronnie Coleman. That said, right now, I am not using any Muscletech products. LOL.

ChuckMemberYes, the CNS is a very powerful diet. I was lifting for 10 years before starting the CNS. I lost weight (fat) and my lifts and muscles sizes all went up. I measure with a tape and couldn’t believe the significant size I was putting on my chest and back. I started lifting the lagging body parts on the same day as the Carb nite (backoad), so this way those smaller muscles can soak up the nutrients and grow. Also it is a combination of gaining muscle and losing weight around the waist. Good deal.

No arguements about it "sucking"... I have my own reasons for not hurrying onto cycles, mostly b/c PCT requires too much effort for the rewards (if you manage to keep them). There is also the not-wanting-to-be-on-a-transplant-list aspect. That said, there is no denying what it can do for strength and size gains, in a relatively short amount of time (w/ the right diet).Cory

SpueyGuestCory congrats on the chest growth, especially since you work chest once a week! Is that routine seriously the only exercises you do, once a week? I'm super jealous, I literally got nowhere till I started pounding every single muscle group everyday for a month, 3×3.
