Cory congrats on the chest growth, especially since you work chest once a week! Is that routine seriously the only exercises you do, once a week? I'm super jealous, I literally got nowhere till I started pounding every single muscle group everyday for a month, 3x3.

Yes, that is my full chest routine at the moment.  Just the basics.  Everything is trained once-a-week, directly (although, bi's, tri's, etc. get assistance work).  Plenty of time for recovery, which is key.Don't feel too jealous, Chest, Back, Thighs and Calves are my strongest bodyparts.  Wish I had the same luck growing my Arms and Delts.  Cannot wait to get back on CBL, need to really kick the ever-loving $h1t out of my Delts in a nutritionally-dense environment where they can seriously grow.Cory

ik alot of guys for pct just add stackables instead of getting off completely theyll pct with sustanon or something less hardcore for a while its expensive but... works

Yeah, expensive, and still gear.  The point of cycling-off is to get off $h1t for a period of time.  I understand the pro's do what they have to do, but they pay a serious cost.Plus, I'd rather look like the guys from Arnold's era, who used, but kept it VERY modest.Cory

Yesterday, I was told by someone who doesn't see me everyday that my chest has gotten noticeably bigger and thicker.  She went so far as to say my chest is now overpowering my delt width and upper arms.  :-I am on Carb Nite, and I knew going into this I'd only be maintaining + losing fat, NOT growing muscle.  I am not a beginner, and have been lifting for years, with some good size to show for it.Is it possible for an advanced lifter to GAIN any noticeable mass on a ULC diet like CNS?  Any other advanced lifters have experience with this?I trust this girl's opinion, which is usually REALLY harsh -- brutally so.  She'd be the first to tell me I look like utter $h1t, if it is true.  She is an avid BB'ing fan. That said, my chest has always been a STRONG bodypart for me... and I have an intense connection with it (much like my back).Perhaps my chest doesn't give a f--k if I am low-carb / dieting... it grows anyway?  ???Cory

Did she actually say "Your chest is now overpowering your delt width and upper arms."  ?I like this girl's style if so.-Adam

Yes... this girl is a body-building fanatic, and she is always tossing around famous BB quotes of Arnold's, Dorian Yates' (and his partner's, from Blood & Guts), Dennis Wolf's, etc.  She knows her $h1t so well, she could judge contests.Yes, she actually accused me of growing my chest to the point of over-powering my delt width and upper arms. She also critiqued me saying I have a lot of thickness, in general (back to front), but need a bit more width, in general (side to side).Told you she is harsh!  HAHA.  I trust the hell out of her opinions.  I only get compliments I deserve, period! In my defense, we could ALL use more width... even if we are already wider than the wing-span of a jumbo jet.  😛Cory

I have had similar results and have been wondering the same thing. I have only been on CNS for about 5 weeks and while  I have had mild gains in definition but I'm up about  7 lbs on the scale and have noticeable improvements in the weak points I'm trying to bring up, not to mention +20lbs on my incline bench 4RM. This could have something to do with the fact that I did a planned overreach before starting CNS, and that I go absolutely ape shyt on carb nite but I still didn't expect to be gaining muscle. I train 6 days per week (chest/back, shoulders/arms, thighs/calves/core, repeat with rest on Sunday) and have a carb nite every 6th day so I can cycle it through my training split (however if carb nite is going to land on Sunday I'll bump it up to Saturday so that it's on a training day).

+1 on going absurdly ape-$h1t on Carb Nite.  I come close to spending my weekly grocery bill on ONE F--KING NIGHT, and I eat it all.  I also don't learn... even when I eat so much I vomit in my mouth w/ burps, I still do the same f--king thing next week.  HAHA.No wonder I was a chubby kid growing up.  Never knew that bottomless stomach 'talent' would come in handy later in my life.Cory

yes i too have noticed gains while on cns. In my delt width especially. I put it down to my routine and the massivr carb nights where i eat enough to feed a small nation.

Could be the best way to bring up a lagging bodypart on CN... work it on a CN.Doesn't account for my chest, though.  I work it on Thursdays... my CN is on Saturdays.Cory

Work it hard enough and it can still be recovering 2 days later, sucking up all the nutrients you throw it's way.

I suppose that is possible... it just shocks me on a protocol like CNS.  Then again, I do eat like a total pig on CN.Cory

Does it matter what body part you train before your carb nite? Won't everything grow if you've been training all week?

Beginners will grow no matter what, especially if they are eating enough, and it is the first few months of their training lives.  The bodybuilding community refers to this as "beginner's luck" or "newb gains".This kind of thing shouldn't be happening to me, not at my level of experience.  Not to say I've gain loads of muscle on CNS... but, I was told my chest got larger (and it measured bigger, too).  I can also see it in my Quad sweep (added width).  Seems to be happening in my strongest, most responsive bodyparts. It makes sense, though, that whatever group you train just before a CN, would soak up those nutrients, and possibly respond with a bit of growth.  Experienced lifter or not.  That is why it is wise to move stubborn bodyparts to the day of CN -- just in case.Cory

I've often been advised to train my legs, the biggest body part, before I eat a ton of carbs so I was originally planning on training my legs on Thursday which is my carb nite. But I want my shoulders and back to grow the most. Should I do my shoulders and back on Thursday? Or just throw in some rows and shoulder presses to my leg routine and continue on with my training schedule as is?

If you were planning on training only shoulders, I'd say you should go ahead and do legs with a few shoulder presses/etc. in with it, but back work is typically pretty intensive, so I think working shoulders and back should be a good enough workout for pre-carb nite.

Okay so heres what I'm thinking want to do. I know it's not recommended to train the same group on back to back days but what they hey… I don't want my legs to grow anymore so I'm not concerned about recovery much with them. Plus it works better with my schedule.Tuesday: legsWednesday: legsThursday: Back and shouldersFriday: Chest and tricepsSaturday: back and bicepsGood? I feel good about it...
