ubermenschmikeKeymasterHey all! Just a quick question and I thought I'd defer to the more experienced folk here on the forums! I'm having trouble deciding what to do. I'm at 13% body fat and was wondering whether I should do two back loads a week to cut into single digit BF (thus staying hormonally in CNS zone as per this podcast at around the 20 minute mark: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gJOywYMrvks&feature=youtu.be) while doing Heavy Duty or should I go ahead and not worry about it and do more back loads per week and just not eat like a crazy asshole, i.e. cleaner food? Also what kind of weight should one be aiming for on HD? Sets of 10 reps at 80% of 1RM seems tough. I know HD is meant to be paired more with CBL. Any input/advice is welcome. Sorry if it's a newb question.

What is your goal, mate? It's hard to provide a sense of direction without knowing what you really want to accomplish in the long run. Good Question, but need more infoI believe backload frequency to be a subject more correlated with staying lean while gaining muscle/strength. Of course i don't know if you are trying to gain strength or what. Please specify

ubermenschmikeGuestSorry for the vague question! That's part of what I'm struggling with is general direction to go from here. I'd like to gain muscle and strength for athletics. I'm not a bodybuilder or anything. Also, as shallow as it is, look good shirtless. I've been self conscious about it for a long time. I'm 6'4″ and weight about 214lbs (without the water weight).

Brandon D ChristParticipantIf you want to do Heavy Duty, I would use CBL. CNS will likely not provide you with enough energy to do the workouts well. Now for your goals. What type of physique would you like to have? Post a picture if you can.

No worries mate, just want to be able to provide you with the best help we can 8)Well, i would immediately suggest CBL Strength accumulation... but if you feel TOO SelF-CONSCIENCE and you REALLY want to be ready to walk the beach with big arms/shoulders and nice chest then i would focus on CNS style eating until you get lean enough to maintain 14-15% BF and switch to CBL SA if you wanted to, so you could focus on increasing muscle size. Really depends on what is most important to you.

ubermenschmikeGuestThanks for the replies, guys. Should I post a pic of where I'm at now so you guys can recommend based on that?

ubermenschmikeGuestThis is where I'm at now. Like I said I got a skin fold test and i'm at 13% BF. Just don't know whether to stay on CNS for a few more weeks and get to single digits or if i can increase my backloads to maybe 3 times a week for SAP and maintain leaness.

Big_RParticipantYeah i'd go ahead and start with Strength accumulation CBL – Any added muscle mass will also work toward stripping fat via increasing your metabolic rate. I would focus on adding some muscle now. You could also try to density bulk after a bit, but i would recommend feeling out your body for a while and seeing how much carbs you can intake and what foods produce the best results... etc, etc. Just my 2 cents.. best of luck mate.

Do CBL and train really hard. You need muscle. Also, I'd do some direct ab work. Some people may disagree but I think many guys would benefit from 1-2 heavy direct ab moves a week.

ubermenschmikeGuestSolid. Thanks guys. I'm gonna try and train hard and I'll do CBL. You guys are the best! As for doing Heavy Duty though, i know my one rep max on back squat, front squat, dead, bench, etc. but how much should i be working up to on those sets or does it not matter? Obviously it's easier to do a heavy 5 then an equally heavy 10.
