I'm 18 and have been lifting seriously for almost two years and have seen great results. What really interests me is when you see older guys (40-50; not “old” but older than me haha) that they almost look grainy and dry. I'm just very curious about muscle maturity and how muscles actually get more dense and thicker. Just accumulated from lifting for years and years?

I don't know any of the science behind it but it seems like those who resistance train for a long time, especially if they train like a strength athlete and not a bodybuilder, will have denser muscles.  Just keep lifting hard and it'll happen to you too.I know I've gained 20lbs in the past few years without adding tons of fat or noticeable muscle size

Yeah that's what I was thinking too. It just takes time. I'm excited though
