NmanParticipantDoes anyone know if it'd be beneficial to take insulin Mimickers or GDAs while following CBL? Something like GlycoBol.

zewskiMemberI think Kiefer mentioned this in the bulletproofexec.com interviewHe basically said that CBL'ing is already doing all the magic that these supps "claim" to produce. Save your money

jerryiiiGuestBumping this for discussion on a different approach:The main issue with these products (Glycobol, Anabolic Pump, Slin-Sane, etc.) is that the ingredients have not been shown to be selective to muscle cells. So in "mimicking" an insulin response, they may also increase sensitivity in fat cells.I wonder if there is an alternate use for these products. Instead of dosing 15-20min prior to a high carb meal (as directed by the manufactures), I'm interested in their effect if dosed an 1 to 1.5 hours after the last back-load meal just before bed. In theory this would help clear any remaining glucose from the last meal and set the body up for a highly productive fat loss night.

wesmantoothGuestI know Smitty (one of the formulators behind SlinSane) said the pre-bed dose would be the one he recommended the most.

That is very interesting, especially coming from one of the formulators. Which product does he make?

jerryiiiGuestOne more thought on this …I wonder if a GDA would allow for some complex carbs to be introduced early in the back-load (not post-workout). We are told to avoid these because they will cause a longer insulin response and thus interfere with nightly GH production. Taking a GDA an hour or so before bed would aid in clearing any remaining glucose -- in theory. Could this open the door to allowing some complex carbs in the back-load?

jerryiiiGuestLeucine?
These products are different from leucine. One of the common ingredients NA-R-ALA which has been shown to lower blood glucose levels.

FairyGuestWhy wouldn't you just use leucine though . . . ?

I do take leucine with each back-load meal. GDAs provide an insulin independent mechanism to clear glucose. Leucine would potentiate insulin in the presents of glucose as well as activate mTOR. So it is very useful with these meals. However, just prior to bed we would not want to re-spike insulin. The GDA would provide insulin independent for glucose clearing.

FairyGuestOh, I see. Why don't you want insulin?

It interferes with night-time GH production.
