PhattyMemberI've never used one before, but as I approach a 3 plate squat I'm thinking I should probably get one.I have no idea what type to get but I've heard bestbelts.com are a good choice to go with.Reccomendations please.

I'd recommend a single prong 10 mm belt. This one is double prong, but it will give you an idea of what to buy. http://www.amazon.com/Leather-Power-Weight-Lifting-Medium/dp/B0028H00HG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1400946310&sr=8-1&keywords=powerlifting+beltIt doesn't really matter what kind. Just don't buy a tapered belt.

No. A belt is not supposed to be comfortable. Get a real power belt.

PhattyMember@ibobDo you think the athelete belt from bestbelt.net is a good choice then? 4inch non-tapered, 10-11mm thick with a single prong. What difference does single/double prong make anyway?

Can you post a link? A single prong belt is just easier to buckle.

Richard SchmittModeratorWhat about affordability? Is the price range we should be weary about not going over?

A good belt will likely cost at least $50.

One thing though, I'm losing weight and my waist is 40inches (around my belly button). Do you think I should order it at 38 or abit less? There's leeway of about 8inches but I don't want a really loose belt in 3-6 months.

Ha. If you say so.I'm happy to take the recommendation of a high level weightlifting coach, though. Which was that belt.
